200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training Instructors

Your yoga Teachers

Leading Classes. Teaching Teachers. Creating Community.

At BambooMoves Yoga, teacher training is about inspiring future teachers to embody the yogic lifestyle and become empowered instructors and leaders. That’s why our course goes beyond the classroom. Monica, and our other instructors teach in our studios and will offer continued support and community connection throughout your course.

  • Monica is the owner of BambooMoves and a 500 hour E-RYT. Monica began her journey with BambooMoves Englewood in 2008 working as their studio manager learning the ins-and-outs of the yoga world in the tri-state area. She loved talking to new students, regulars, and anyone that showed interest in yoga, but she preferred to stay mostly 'behind the scenes.' Her teacher, Stephanie Miller (former owner of BambooMoves Englewood and now BambooMoves Cincinnati) convinced her to take the 200 hour BambooMoves Teacher Training which ended up changing her life's path and revealing her dharma. She wanted to provide an inclusive environment for everyone to come home to their 'Self' and tap into who they truly are. In 2013, she moved back to Baltimore and opened BambooMoves in Locust Point. Then in 2017, Monica received her 500 hour certification through Chris Loebsack of Boundless Yoga. In addition to yoga, Monica is also a professional singer/songwriter and has released several recordings including a yoga mantra album 'Veil of Time,' recorded with NYC's top sound engineer Robert L. Smith (Paul McCartney, Lady Gaga, Glee) and co-produced by Joe Bonadio, drummer (Sting, Marc Cohn). You can see her performing LIVE at our monthly All Levels Live Music Class and find her on Spotify and iTunes! https://tinyurl.com/5n8zhuak.

  • Tina Crandell, E-RYT 500, has been a registered yoga teacher since 2014 and in that time has continued to cultivate her teaching skills through study and practice and by working with students of diverse ages and backgrounds. In addition to her professional E-RYT 500 designation she has received certifications in the Integrative Amrit Method of Yoga Nidra Professional Training and Yoga Nidra Advanced Training and is highly qualified to facilitate classes in the Amrit Method of Yoga Nidra, I AM Yoga Therapy Body Psychology, and Advanced Yoga Practices. Most recently Tina started coursework towards registration as a Certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT) through the Amrit Yoga Therapy Program. Tina also holds a B.A. in Art History from the University of North Carolina.

Tina is grateful for the opportunity to connect to all types of people through the beautiful tradition of yoga. She has built her career on providing an authentic yoga experience for students within - and outside - a traditional yoga setting. In addition to her on-going group instruction at studios around the Baltimore metro area and maintaining a portfolio of private and corporate clients, Tina has partnered with The Center for Trauma, Stress, and Anxiety in Bel Air to offer sessions in yoga and meditation to clients as a compliment to conventional psychological care. Tina’s additional experience includes working with elite athletes competing in semi-professional sports and middle-school and elementary students in Baltimore City public schools. Tina has also worked with adult students in specialized settings including an Addiction Treatment Center, Stroke and Brain Injury Rehabilitation Center, Outreach Center for Homeless Women and Children, and Low-Income Residential Housing Staff and Residents. Most recently, Tina has welcomed clients for private Yoga Therapy Body Psychology sessions specializing in anxiety/stress-reduction, trauma, and grief.

Tina is most interested in using the tools and wisdom of yoga to achieve profound emotional and mental transformations beyond just the physical – or, “fitness” – benefits. Tina’s approach includes a combination of asana (postures), meditation (mindfulness), pranayama (breath-work), deep relaxation techniques (yoga nidra), and yoga therapy body psychology techniques that work beyond the mind to restore and balance physical and emotional health and create a more positive relationship to the stresses of daily life. Her trauma-informed practices are intended for all, regardless of yoga experience or physical ability.

 Yoga training FAQs

  • The training begins January 11th and concludes April 30th. The course will meet once a week from 6-9pm and eight weekends at BambooMoves Baltimore in Locust Point. The weekend hours begin at 7am on Saturday and finish on Sunday at 5:00pm. The training involves 180 contact hours and 20 hours of personal study and other requirements. These requirements include practice teaching, adjustments, and taking classes outside of training hours. Homework will be weekly readings, daily practice, and journaling. There will also be a written exam at the conclusion of the training.

  • BambooMoves teaches Hatha Raja Vinyasa Yoga. Hatha yoga concentrates on our physical health and mental well being through asana (yoga postures). Raja Yoga is the path of self-discipline and sadhana (practice) through the study of Patanjali’s eight limbs of Yoga. This study of the eight limbs is also known as Ashtanga Yoga – “ashta” in Sanskrit means eight and “anga” means limb. Vinyasa is best described as moving consciously with the breath to create union between the body, mind, and the universal self. Vinyasa yoga initiates an awareness that links each action to the next – one breath at a time.

  • Yes, after completing the 200 hour training you can begin taking continuing education courses and workshops to become a yoga therapist. The skills taught in our yoga teacher training will help fine tune your understanding and experience in the field of your interest The amount of additional training needed will depend on your own personal background and experience. Each BambooMoves location offers regular workshops and resources to help support your continued growth, knowledge, and experience of the healing attributes of Yoga.

  • Both International and Immersion courses are densely condensed and compacted. For many, this may make students feel overwhelmed and leave you tired throughout the course and potentially burned out by the end of the program.

In comparison, the weekend format provides more time and space to internalize all of the information covered through study, self reflection, and practice. It takes time to create new habits, to cultivate discipline, and to train the body and mind. This format provides you with an opportunity to instill the teachings, to find your voice, and to learn through experience. We feel that the greatest gift we can offer our students is personal growth and transformation.

  • Our teachers are each 500-hour Experienced Registered Yoga Teachers and yoga studio owners. Each teacher has dedicated their life to the path of yoga and conscious living.

  • BambooMoves has four locations to help support participants after receiving their certification. The Hatha Raja Vinyasa style learned in this course is versatile, authentic, and well-rounded. This allows you to adapt to any studio’s teaching method. Most graduates have had success finding teaching jobs shortly after the course.

  • Our training is a paradigm for spiritual transformation and personal growth. Rooted in the ancient teachings of Yoga you are immersed in a soul serving experience designed to move you closer to the Self. The Road to Yoga includes a well-rounded, diverse curriculum to provide you with the tools needed to confidently lead others on the path of yoga and wellness. Our training includes an in-depth study of the classical Yoga postures (asanas), chanting, philosophies, anatomy & physiology as well as subtle anatomy, ayurveda, and therapeutics.

The Road to Yoga develops discipline, devotion, and understanding of the ultimate goal of the practice: to rediscover your SELF!

  • Getting a certification in a specific type of yoga, like vinyasa, will open the door to more teaching opportunities. Many hot yoga studios have a specific method associated with their own studio. After our teacher training, you may bring your vinyasa or hatha background to a hot yoga studio and then adapt to their method of teaching.
